[A dirt road climbs between two dense walls of spectators in flat caps and overcoats to a banner strung across the summit. The leading rider, in a red and white jersey, cranks out of the saddle in the foreground; five more follow in single file up the pale road behind him, with a timing hut and more crowds on the skyline. Bicycles are propped along the left verge and the sea haze of the Ligurian coast fills the right of the frame.]
