Type Universel
[A wide ruled advertisement in black and white, laid out as a horizontal strip. A line engraving of a chainset stands at each end: the left drawing shows a single large chainwheel with fine teeth, a three-armed spider with hex bolts and a long crank arm ending in a round pedal eye, and a two-line caption “Nouveau modèle / Type Universel” is set at its foot on either side of the arm; the right drawing shows a similar chainset seen at a slant with a second inner ring of wavy cutouts, slotted spider arms and a crank arm bearing small engraved lettering that reads “A. DUPRAT” and “PROFESSIONNEL”. Between the drawings the word “MANIVELLES” is set in widely spaced roman capitals with two lines of smaller spaced capitals below, then “PROFESSIONNELS” stands in light capitals reversed out of a dark swelling banner with a ruled outline. The firm’s name is set in large bold roman capitals followed by the street in smaller type, and the town stands below between two dashes. No signature or agency mark is visible.]
[This advertisement shares page 170 of L’Officiel du cycle with an advertisement for Pelissier, held here as its own record, and others for P. Marcy and C.G.C.I.M..]
