HALL du CYCLE – Stand 131
[An upright ruled advertisement in black on the cream stock, the panel enclosed by a fine rule with a second rule below it across the foot. The upper half is a solid black field cut as a tilted slab with a drawn shadow down its right edge, and the slogan is lettered across it in a large white brush script, the second line underscored with a white stroke and closing on a tall exclamation mark; “…en pédalant sur un” follows in a smaller white script, then “DERNY” reversed out in very heavy sans-serif capitals and “CYCLE ET TANDEM” below it in smaller reversed capitals. The lower half is a line-engraved cartoon drawing: a man in a peaked cap and short-sleeved shirt rides a tandem to the right with a woman behind him on the rear saddle, her arm raised in a wave, both in shorts, the machine a motorized tandem with an engine unit and a large tank-shaped casing at the head tube, a headlamp, a saddlebag over the rear wheel and speed lines trailing behind; the rider speaks into a white speech balloon lettered in script, “Les joies de la route à la portée de tous !”. Two script lines, “Possibilités de Crédit” and “• Catalogue”, are written along the drawn road lines at the lower right. At the foot the firm’s name, street, arrondissement and telephone are set in bold sans-serif capitals and upper and lower case on two lines, and the hall and stand line is set below the panel in italic. No second color is used, no signature or agency mark is present, and nothing shows through from the reverse of the leaf.]
[This advertisement shares page 104 of L’Officiel du cycle with an advertisement for Guiller, held here as its own record, and one for Marbon workshop tools for motorcycles.]
