[On the caliper:] CLEM — SPECIAL

[A ruled advertisement in black and white in a heavy single border. “FREINS C.L.E.M” runs across the head in large heavy sans serif capitals. At the left a line engraving with hatched shading shows a side-pull caliper brake with a horseshoe-shaped arm lettered “CLEM” and “SPECIAL”, two brake blocks and a cable adjuster with a knurled head, mounted on a fork crown. At the right a second line engraving shows a brake lever with its bracket clamped to a handlebar, in profile. Between the two drawings “Tous Modèles” is set in italic, the firm’s name in bold capitals, the street address in italic, the town in heavy capitals and the telephone line in italic. No artist signature or agency mark is seen.]

[This advertisement shares page 42 of L’Officiel du cycle with advertisements for Bauriat, Robert Frères and Yvars, each held here as its own record, and one for De La Rue gas heating panels.]
