The Claud Butler crest
‘Famous when your dad was a lad’

[Color cover photograph of three riders in club jerseys gathered with three lightweight bicycles (silver, red and blue) in front of a thatched white clapboard cottage with a picket fence, one rider holding a map or leaflet. The red script “Claud Butler” logo and the blue slogan sit at lower left; at lower right is a photograph of the enameled Claud Butler crest, a “CB” roundel in a laurel wreath over five interlocked squares in the Olympic colors, on a red ribbon reading “LONDON” and “ENGLAND” divided by a small dot. A white patch where the surface of the paper has torn away sits on the roof eave above the center rider.]

The same method is retained today—each tube is hand-picked and polished before assembly, with the components such as lugs and the fork crown all carefully selected by Holdsworthy, whose expertise in the United Kingdom is probably unparalleled.
