SALON du CYCLE et de la MOTO – Stand no 165
[A full-width ruled advertisement in black and white, a tall panel inside a double-ruled frame, with a one-line footer outside the frame. A ruled band across the head is divided in two: at the left an oval cartouche holds the interlocked letters “C.E.V.” in outlined shaded capitals with “MARQUE DÉPOSÉE” in italic capitals beneath, and at the right the firm line is set in plain sans-serif capitals, with “Flli PAGANI” in heavy black type and the address and telephone number below it. Under a second rule the italic tagline runs across the panel in two lines. The body is a scatter of small line-engraved and halftone drawings of electrical parts, each with its label set in spaced sans-serif type beside or beneath it, some labels in a lighter italic. At the upper left a motorcycle headlamp is drawn in profile with a ribbed lens and a small speedometer dial mounted on its top, and from it a curved cable runs to a small handlebar speedometer drive unit at the right. Below at the left is a large round flywheel magneto drawn in fine hatching with the maker’s name and “MADE IN ITALY” stamped on the face. A small round tail lamp with a lattice lens sits at the lower left, a round horn with a ribbed grille and a mounting foot stands in the center and a handlebar switch is drawn at the right. Below these a bicycle headlamp with a fluted shell is drawn on its bracket with a clamp, and at its right a cylindrical bicycle dynamo carries two oval “C.E.V.” plates. At the foot of the panel a rectangular hand torch with a handle and round lens stands at the left and a slim cylindrical pocket torch stands at the right. The footer line below the frame gives the Salon name and stand number in spaced roman capitals. No artist signature is visible and no text shows through from the reverse of the leaf.]
[This advertisement shares page 156 of L’Officiel du cycle with advertisements for Dissoplast vulcanizing solution and the Arsor mud flap for cyclomoteurs and Eskimo gloves.]
