USINES DE LARDY
Boën-sur-Lignon (Loire)

[A full-page advertisement inside a thin ruled border, drawn entirely in fine line engraving with cross-hatched shading on a ground mottled with gray tone. Nine hubs are arranged around a central label. Six are large drum-brake hubs shown at an angle, with rows of small round holes in the flanges, a clamp nut on the axle and a curved brake arm: one at the upper left, one at the upper right, one at the middle right, one at the lower left, one at the lower right and a smaller one at the foot, lying on its side. Four of these carry a toothed sprocket, and the raised letters “DUO” over “RMM” can be read on the shell of two of them. Three slim hubs with long threaded axles and round perforated flanges lie at an angle, two at the left and one at the right, and a small ringed emblem is marked on the barrel of two of them. In the center a pale rectangular label holds a shield divided diagonally, with “NEW STAR” in tall narrow capitals at the upper left, “Exceltoo” in a looping script across the middle and “RMM” in tall narrow capitals at the lower right; beneath it “USINES DE LARDY” is set in spaced capitals and the town and department in a bold lower-case line. The artist’s signature “Rebour”, written in a cursive hand with a large initial, sits at the lower left corner. No text from the reverse of the leaf shows through.]
