HALL DU CYCLE : Stand 156.

[A tall, narrow ruled advertisement in black and white. A ruled header band at the top holds the firm’s oval monogram “C.E.V.” with “MARQUE DÉPOSÉE” beneath it at the left, and the maker’s name and Milan address at the right. Below a double rule an italic claim runs across the full width. The body is a column of fine line-engraved illustrations, each with plain labels set at its left and right. From the top they show a motorcycle headlamp with a round speedometer fixed to its shell and a cable running to a small control unit; a large round flywheel magneto with cut-away openings and a raised hub; a small round rear lamp with a mesh face, a horn with a ribbed bell and mounting foot, and a small switch; a bicycle headlamp beside a bottle-shaped dynamo on a clamp bracket, with the C.E.V. mark on its body; and a square-bodied hand lamp with a carrying bail beside a long pocket torch. An italic line introduces the last two drawings and a spaced-capitals line on export follows them. A ruled footer gives the French distributor and its address and telephone number, and the stand line “HALL DU CYCLE : Stand 156.” sits unboxed below the border, its last digit smudged. Faint text from the reverse of the leaf shows through beside the pocket torch. No artist’s signature and no agency mark is visible.]
