[A front cover printed in black and cream on a green ground. The masthead stands in a cream panel framed by a heavy black rule and a thin inner rule: “L’OFFICIEL” in very large condensed Didone capitals with hairline serifs across the head, “DU CYCLE, DU MOTOCYCLE” below it in heavy rounded sans-serif capitals, “ET DU CAMPING” smaller in the same face, and “ORGANE D’INFORMATION DE L’INDUSTRIE ET DU COMMERCE” in widely spaced light sans-serif capitals along the foot. At the left of the title, “61e ANNÉE” in bold sans-serif over a short rule and the founder’s credit in small roman; at the right, “COMPTE RENDU / SALON 1951”, “No 39” and “ÉDITION “CYCLE”” in small sans-serif capitals. Below, the whole lower cover is a full-page advertisement for cream separators, not a cycle product, framed by a heavy black rule and a band of fine cream rules. At the upper left a cream disc carries the slogan “BERNARD-ÉCRÉMEUSES” in quotation marks round its rim and a line drawing of a hand-cranked cream separator: a wide bowl on top, a spouted drum with two outlet pipes and a crank handle on a pedestal base. The slogan “LES SEULES ÉCRÉMEUSES 100 % ACIER INOXYDABLE” climbs diagonally across the green field in heavy italic sans-serif, “LES”, “ÉCRÉMEUSES” and “ACIER” in black and “SEULES”, “100 %” and “INOXYDABLE” in cream, the last underscored by a tapering cream swash. The firm’s name and Paris address run in cream condensed capitals across the lower left. At the lower right a cream octagonal plate repeats the separator drawing between “ÉCRÉMEUSES” arched above and “LACTINOX” in large black serif capitals curved below; the small number “148” stands outside its lower right corner. Two red library stamps are struck on the cover: a small rectangular stamp in the masthead over the word “ORGANE”, reading “D.L.” above a partly blurred date that appears to include “DEC 1951”, and a larger round stamp, its legend illegible, over the cream frame below the address.]
