HALL DU CYCLE : Stand 200.

[A tall, narrow unruled advertisement in black and white. A broad, ragged-edged black brush stroke across the head carries the name in reversed white lettering: “ARTHUR” and “HEROLD Père” in heavy sans-serif capitals, “présente..” in a white italic script, and “SES EXCLUSIVITÉS” in spaced capitals. Below it a column of eleven small ruled boxes runs down the left side, each holding a tiny line drawing keyed to the entry at its right: a hub, loose balls and bearing rings, two handlebar-mounted dials, a wheel with spokes, a dynamo beside a headlamp, a boxed chain, a pedal, a round bell, a spring saddle, a motorcycle saddle with a seat rail and a horn. The entries are set in light sans-serif type with each brand name in heavy capitals between guillemets. Two further entries, without drawings, stand below the column, then the firm’s name in heavy capitals with its address and the stand line centered at the foot. No artist’s signature and no agency mark is visible.]

[This advertisement shares page 122 of L’Officiel du cycle with an advertisement for Bo-Vi-Co.]
